What Is Home Physiotherapy?
Home physiotherapy means the physiotherapist comes to the patient's home and carries out the assessment and treatment there, one to one. For people who have just come home from surgery, can't manage the stairs, are in too much pain to travel or find it hard to leave the house, it is a way to start treatment without waiting. Working at home has another advantage: I can plan the exercises in the place where you actually live. We practise getting out of your own bed, standing up from your own chair and walking down your own hallway, so what you learn carries straight into daily life. I arrange home visits in Muratpaşa, Lara, Konyaaltı, Kepez, Aksu and Döşemealtı, planning each one around the patient's situation. My clinic is in Varlık, Muratpaşa; as your mobility improves, we can continue treatment there if needed.
Who Is It For?
- Patients in the early period after knee or hip replacement
- People who can't yet leave home after fracture surgery
- Older adults with limited mobility
- Older adults at risk of falling or afraid of falling
- People who can't manage stairs or travel because of acute back pain
- Bed-bound or chair-bound patients who need mobility and strengthening work
- Anyone who wants an exercise programme set up in their own home
- Patients who want a family member or carer involved in their care
What a Home Session Includes
Assessment at Home
On the first visit I look at your complaint, your level of mobility and how you move around your home. I share what I find about the source of the problem and refer you to a doctor when needed. After surgery, we follow your surgeon's protocol.
Exercise Therapy
Graded exercises for strength, range of motion and balance. I bring portable equipment such as resistance bands; a chair, a step or a wall at home becomes part of the work too.
Transfer and Walking Practice
Getting out of bed, sitting down and standing up, getting to the toilet and walking around the house. If you use a walker or a cane, we practise using it correctly and safely.
Manual Techniques
Soft tissue work and joint mobilization to ease pain and free up movement — always within your pain threshold and alongside exercise.
Family and Carer Guidance
I show the person who helps you at home how to support you safely, what to watch out for and how to keep the exercises going between sessions.
How a Home Visit Is Arranged
It starts with a short phone or WhatsApp call. We talk about the patient's condition, any recent surgery and the address. The aim is to decide together whether a home session is really appropriate; if it is, we set a date. My time for home visits is limited, so I recommend booking ahead. The first visit begins with an assessment, then we move on to the first exercises. In later sessions the programme is updated as you progress, and I leave a short home programme for you to do between visits. Once you reach a stage that needs clinic equipment such as the reformer and you are able to travel, we continue treatment at the clinic in Muratpaşa.
